UC5: A successful event for the effective transfer of know-how!

“Short, to the point and competent...an event that does not put you to sleep but motivates you to work with the Barthauer software even more intensively” is how one participant describes the fifth BaSYS User Conference held on 25 and 26 June 2014 at Hotel La Strada in Kassel. The two-day event focused on the experiences of BaSYS users with Barthauer Software GmbH’s network information system.

Reminiscent of the famous water features at the UNESCO world heritage site Kassler Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, both days of the event were all about the topic of water and wastewater. This was not only reflected by the motto for the event but also by the evening programme, which was received enthusiastically by numerous participants. Under the motto “(Waste)Water Games”, renowned speakers reported about their use of the network information system BaSYS in practice.  Aside from discussing current topics and challenges, the main focus was on special projects that have been completed successfully. Every presentation was concluded by discussions where questions about the topic were answered and the specific exchange of experiences between the participants gathered speed.

Workshops on four different topics related to the use of BaSYS in practice were held with smaller groups of participants in parallel to the presentations. “The workshops in particular tremendously enrich the event since concrete knowledge for day-to-day work is imparted,” said one participant in conversation. The workshops were repeated three times during the event so that every UC participant had the opportunity to choose a suitable time for a topic of interest without missing a presentation that was important to them.

Both days of the user conference were moderated by Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Claudia Hickmann. As BARTHAUER’s Sales Manager, she welcomed the participants and, before each participant presentation, introduced interesting facts and theories about the terms “wastewater” and “games” that made the attendees marvel and smile.

To make it easy for participants to establish contacts between them directly, the agenda included generous coffee breaks for joint networking as well. The event motto “(Waste)Water Games” continued with the evening programme. After a short bus ride to Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, the participants jointly toured the unique water features and took a look behind the scenes. Here the focus was on the underground water chambers and the course of pipes, some of which are 300 years old.  They also examined the water valves and other technical subtleties. “The evening event was highly successful and a nice, informative change of pace in fresh air,” said one of the participants after the tour. In conclusion, the gourmet buffet at the hotel served as the setting for more in-depth discussions and as the evening drew to a pleasant close.

Once again we very much enjoyed organising the BaSYS User Conference this year. Thank you to the participants for all the positive feedback! We are already looking forward to UC6 next year.
