UC6: Because staying on the ball is important!

On 24 and 25 June 2015, Barthauer Software GmbH hosted the sixth BaSYS User Conference (UC) for users of the network information system BaSYS. This year’s venue was the Holiday Inn Nürnberg City-Centre in Nuremberg. Around 75 participants including users, speakers and BARTHAUER experts exchanged information about the efficient use of BaSYS on the two days of the event.

After the welcome by Claudia Hickmann, Sales Manager at BARTHAUER, and the first interactive workshops, the UC was opened on the first day of the event by Martin Gatterer, Head of Sewer Information Systems at Stadtentwässerung und Umweltanalytik Nürnberg (SUN). Gatterer followed BARTHAUER’s invitation and spoke about his experiences with the development of a sewer information system. Winning the tender to deliver a sewer information system at SUN in January of 2014 was the background. This was followed on the one hand by the technical presentations of new cooperation partners. For instance, Dr. Robert Stein (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stein & Partner GmbH) spoke about strategic asset management for drainage networks, Dr. Karl-Heinz Röder (GAUSS+LÖRCHER Ingenieurtechnik GmbH) about data migration to BaSYS and Thomas Telegdy (DHI Austria GmbH) about the added value of multidimensional modelling in the field of hydrodynamic calculation. On the other hand, select users reported about their practical use of BaSYS. Marc Hoffmann (KISTERS AG) spoke about pest control with the BaSYS Regie module, Dr. Andreas Meyer (Geoventis GmbH) about the use of BaSYS Web in the state of Luxembourg and Rainer Kurz (Senngis GIS- & IT-Service) about quality control for own project data with the test program PIETS using Stadtwerke Geretsried as an example.

Interactive workshops were once again held on both days of the event, with contents specified by BARTHAUER in advance. Even though these workshops were repeated on both days, they were fully booked within a few days. That is why the workshops were opened up to more participants on short notice. Two individual workshops were offered for the first time as a pilot project this year with the goal of getting participants actively involved in setting the agenda. Thus the participants also took the floor for the first time. Individual workshop topics could be submitted with the online registration. Numerous participants took advantage of this opportunity. BARTHAUER will include individual workshops in the upcoming UC but significantly optimise the concept.

The participants had ample opportunities for intensive networking in the course of the coffee breaks. The input-packed day drew to a close with the evening programme where newly established contacts were intensified. BARTHAUER invited interested participants on a study tour of the historic rockcut cellars of the Nuremberg underworld, followed by a hearty Franconian evening meal in the rustic ambiance of the Hausbrauerei Altstadthof.

UC6 once again brought enthusiastic users together this year, guaranteeing fruitful and profitable exchanges between them through the dialogue-oriented agenda. The UC team at Barthauer Software GmbH thanks all participants and speakers for taking part in UC6 in Nuremberg and eagerly anticipates UC7.
